Initial situation

Explosive mixtures can develop in many applications, for example chemicals, pharma, food technology, refineries, recycling and mills. Valves that can be used in these areas require an approval in accordance with Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX). At the same time, there should be no compromises in the valves’ performance.

The HYDAC ATEX valve range is geared precisely towards these requirements. The ATEX approval covers various coils for a range of valve types (cartridge and CETOP valves) from the product portfolio. Furthermore, the portfolio is supplemented by hydraulic valves with their own manufacturer’s declaration for ATEX applications.

Very high M1   Two independent protective measures: safe even if two errors occur independently. Devices remain ready for use and are operated even in an explosive atmosphere.
Very high   1 Two independent protective measures: safe even if two errors occur independently. Devices remain ready for use and are operated in zones 0, 1, 2 (G) and 20, 21, 22 (D).
High M2   Suitable for normal operation and difficult operating conditions. Where applicable, even for disruptions that occur frequently or errors that are generally taken into account. Devices are switched off in the case of an explosive atmosphere.
High   2 Safe for normal operation and for typical disruptions and errors. Devices remain ready for use and are operated in zones 1, 2 (G) and/or 21, 22 (D).
Normal   3 Safe in normal operation. Devices remain ready for use and are operated in zone 2 (G) and/or 22 (D).

 

As an in-house manufacturer of coils and valves, HYDAC produces ATEX valves that meet the relevant electric and mechanical requirements.
